The BlackHammer CyberPunk Project

Chrome:2020
Chromatic Rock is one of the essential parts of the dark future. It's described as punk rock / heavy metal with electronics and distorted, screaming vocals. (Sounds a lot like someone invented modern industrial music before it's time). But just like any other genre, the hard / loud music scene has it's own fair share of subgenres...

So when that next Chromer beats her head into the wall, she may well be listening to...

Chromatic rock
The essential and quintessential music of the 21st Century. Heavy Metal guitars, from wanky to thrashing, Electronic beats and support, angry punk lyrics.
groups: old SilverHand, old Eurodyne, Jack Entropy

Chromatose
Hard Core Chromatose is similar in many respects to modern Chromatic Rock; also known as Heavy Chrome, it features layers of enhanced instrumentation blended with a heavy backbeat. Unlike normal Chromatic Rock, Heavy Chrome tends to be less engineered with a grittier sound. Some bands of this genre even go so far as to use old-style drums, axes and basses laced with some ambient synthesizer effects to give a dark and ominous feel to the music. Loud and heavy are the two key words used when describing this sort of new music. Generally slower and deeper than straight Chromatic Rock. The MetalGoth of the 20's.
groups: Apocalypse, Cry Havoc, Mortuary

Classic Chrome
Throwbacks and tribute acts to the original pre-collapse chrome bands such as Ministry, Controlled Bleeding, ChemLab, 16volt and so on... Wanky guitars, Electronic drumbeats, Samples, distorted vocals, lots of angst.
groups: Industrial Strength, Grinding Order, OrangeHead

Symphonic Chrome
From schmaltzy ballad-rockers to borderline chromatose acts, Symphonic Chrome has eliminated the electronic rhythm section of most chrome acts for more symphonic arrangements of simulated string and wind instruments or pianos over whych slower numbers are played. Many a chrome band has released a few symphonic tracks, but a number of groups are dedicated to releasing chip after chip of this schtick.
groups: Incandescent, Stress Induction, Flowstone

ElectroPlate
On the verge between crhome and StrobeDance, ElectroPlate uses Chromatic guitars and vocals run through the on/off strobe filters over the bubbly techno rhythms. Many bands who have done ElectroPlate recordings are actually Chromatic Rock bands collaborating with Strobe groups and DJs.
groups: Insdustrial Strength vs ShatterZone, Tormentor, Vial
