RoboHounds
(see the original article from Interface 1.1)
RoboHounds are somewhat behind state-of-the-art modular computerized "dogs" created to assist in police and CorpSec work. The modular design allows for types of RoboHound to suit every purpose. They have become popular because they are relatively cheap and effective, and one of the first visible forms of robot enforcement without the problems of the self-motivated variety such as the famous ED-209 series.
This article is a re-examination of the RoboHound phenomenon, originally covered in the first issue of Interface Magazine, published for CyberPunk 2013 by Prometheus. The original article is credited to Chris Hockabout, Thaddeus Howze and Kevin DeAntonio.
RoboHounds are difficult for the general populace to get, and persons purchasing one privately (not through a security company) will find themselves paying out the nose for it. Generally the manufacturer's charge a 100% surcharge for personal use robotics. Also RoboHounds are covered by the same legislation as firearms as far as responsability for damage and fatalities caused by the item.
Frame |
Metal | AlumiLite | Ceramet | TriPlastics |
This metal frame is the heaviest and cheapest of the frame types. It is generally made high grade light steel alloys (+2 to notice rolls, +5 SDC)
| Not as heavy as the metal frame, but basically the same, the AlumiLite frame is somewhat flimsier than the alloy frame. (+1 to notice rolls, -5 SDC) | Made of ceramic and metal alloys, this frame is lighter and as strong as the steel frame (+1 to notice rolls, +0 SDC) | This is the lightest of the frames, and used in stealth model dogs. It is as strong as either of the other models, and gets no bonuses to being noticed if disguised. (+0 SDC) |

Additional Spaces cost 350eb per half space, up to the maximum spaces allowable on the frame.
Additional Armor costs 50eb per SP, up to double the basic armor of the model.
All dogs may carry half their internal space value in external weapons without affecting their perfomance, but cannot purchase the disguise option in this case.
Cyber Options
All options take 1/4 space unless otherwise noted.
Cyberhounds can have almost any piece of cyberware, at ½ normal cost of normal (since there is no metal/meat interface to build).
Remote Control Option: $300
Disguise Option: Covers the frame with fur and a realistic appearance. Costs $100. -1 to Awareness rolls, no space needed

RoboHound-Specific Options |
---|
|
Microrocket Launcher (1 ½ spaces)
A multiple rocket rack that can carry up to 30 Microrockets witha rate of fire up to 10. Each missile will affect a two meter radius with a load that can cause up to 4D6 of damage per hit. They may be used in a manner similar to machine gun fire (suppressive, snap shots, cover fire). Rockets are dumb and cannot be affected by Electronic Counter Measures. Used mostly for anti-personal and ghetto/slum warfare. 1,200eb
|
Rifles
A standard N concealability assault rifle (such as an M20 / Militech Ronin) takes one space. Extended ammo capacity (100 rounds) takes an additional half space. Cost is as the normal rifle +300eb for stripping the weapon down and building it into the RoboHound body.
|
Crowd Control
A standard J concealability SMG (such as Minami 10) takes one half space. Extended ammo capacity (140 rounds) takes an additional half space. Cost is as the normal SMG +300eb for stripping the weapon down and building it into the RoboHound body.
|
Minilaser (1 ½ spaces)
Same as 4 intensity point alser. Advantages include invisibility to normal sight, speed of light targeting (+2 WA), low weight, easily renewable resource. 10 Intenisty points of stored power. Connect to a normal outlet for recharging. 2,000eb
|
Increased Str (1/4 space per 1d6)
Increases bite damage by 1d6 and MA by 3. Up to an additional 4D6 bite damage can be bought. 300eb per level.
|
Carboglass Teeth (1/4 space)
Exceptionally sharp teeth of caboglas causing severe wounds with the hound's bite. 2D6 damage, ½ SP. 250eb
|
Chemical, Biological sensors (aka Sniffers) (½ space)
Molecular Sensor that dublicates the molecular mathcing system found in the olfactory tissues in dogs, this device can track a target based on chemical traces left by the target. It may also be programmed with a list of pre-existing signatures of drugs, chemicals, etc. It has a limited computer that assists in identification and tracking. 800eb
|
Sharp Wire net Launcher (1 Space)
This is a weighted macro-filament wire net launcher over the target. It reduces the MA of a traget to zero if he fails an athletics dodge roll. It also receives a +2 to hit because it covers an area. It is only effective up to 10 meters away. If the target attempts to break free using raw strength, divide the targets BOD by 3 and apply this as dice of damage as the macrofilament begins to cut into the target. Filament wire treats armor as ½ SP. If the target uses a knife or chainsaw, he will be delayed for 12-REF rounds. 1000eb. Nets cost 200eb each.
|
Minigrenade Launcher (1 space)
These marble sized grenades can be fired up to 20m. They may fiore any of the listed combat agents as well as small grenades The grenades cause 2d6 fragmentation damage and effect a 6 foot radius. Carries 10 grenades. 600eb
